I side with Jennifer as well because you rightly point out that social networking sites are merely tools of communication.

I have met people via Facebook who have become real-life friends and/or business contacts, as well as gotten introductions to VCs, angels and others.

LinkedIn, etc. are tools and the go-getters will learn to use them.
